How to Download YouTube Shorts (3 Ways)

Save YouTube Shorts as MP4 video or MP3 audio in seconds. Three easy ways to download Shorts on your phone or computer, no app required.

Shorts are fun to watch but sometimes you want to keep one — a recipe, a workout, a song snippet — for later. Here are three ways to download any Short, all free and all without an app.

Shorts live at youtube.com/shorts/<id>. If you see that in the address bar, you are looking at a Short.

Way 1 — Use the Shorts downloader

The simplest method:

  1. Open the Short on YouTube.
  2. Tap ShareCopy Link.
  3. Paste the link into the Shorts Downloader.
  4. Click Get video, pick a quality, download.

The file keeps the vertical format, so it looks right on your phone.

Way 2 — Download as MP3

If you only want the sound — a song snippet, a joke, a voice clip — switch to the MP3 tab after pasting the link. You get a clean audio file instead of a video.

Way 3 — On the YouTube app

The built-in YouTube app does not offer downloads for most Shorts unless you have Premium. That is exactly why a browser-based tool is the better route: paste the link, download the file, done.

What Shorts can you download?

  • Public Shorts — yes
  • Shorts you uploaded yourself — yes, obviously
  • Private or age-restricted Shorts — no, the same rules as regular videos

Save Shorts for personal, offline use and respect the creator’s work. Redistributing or re-uploading someone else’s content without permission is not okay.
